PCS reps from Asylum in The Capital met with the G7 on 13 January 2022 to discuss any questions or issues that members had brought forward.

Pay 2022

Did you know that PCS is running a consultative ballot on pay from 14 February? Keep an eye on our website and we will give you more information when we have it.

There was a query around when the new desks where scheduled to be implemented after seeing recent emails regarding floor changes. Management confirmed that the changes to the asylum floor are not happening for a while yet, however it is scheduled for this year. As soon as they know more they will inform everyone.

An issue was brought to the attention of PCS regarding the office rota that is sent out weekly. A PCS rep spoke with the organiser of the All Staff Rota and it was agreed that this would be issued on a Wednesday to give people enough notice to organise their appointments for the following week. However, the Admin Rota has been agreed to be issued on a Thursday morning. If anyone experiences any problems with this or the above deadlines are not been adhered to, please get in touch with one of your local reps and they can escalate this issue further.

There was a question around when our members will return from the academy given that the academy has been reduced to a 9-week FTP course. Management stated that talks are ongoing to negotiate when this will happen, but as soon as they know, everyone will be informed.

Members had asked why there has been an increase in interviews when there has been a reduction in staff and whether they have moved other units temporarily or permanently to other jobs. Members are feeling the pressure when having to cover interviews on top of their weekly commitments. Management highlighted that there has not been an increase in interviews as our numbers have been quite stable. However, if any staff are feeling the pressure of interviews then to raise this with their team leader whether it be that a break from interviewing is needed or members are doing more than they are comfortable with. Management stated that the Team Based Approach should give members more flexibility to control their work and put forward their preferences.

If you feel you are not being listened to please get in touch with PCS and we will take it forward.
