At the meeting branch reps were informed by management that as well as the review of how screening site alarms are dealt with, a restructure of the West Coast Ports teams is also now under consideration. The PCS Home Office Group Executive Committee (GEC) have now been informed.

PCS requested that members who would be affected should be informed at an early stage, even though there is lack of detail, in order for members to have input from the beginning of any plans being considered.

Communications from management sent to members on 17 September who were invited to 1 of 2 briefing sessions on 20 and 27 September to discuss the restructure and air their views and concerns. PCS asked to join the briefings which was agreed. However, due to technical issues, we were unable to join the first meeting but a rep from the branch was due to attend the second meeting on 27 September. To be clear, PCS currently has no further details other than what was in the communications issued by management on 17 September. PCS is awaiting next steps and details such as timescales, proposed rosters, AHA rates, likely levels of flexibility required and the process if there is over-subscription on the preference exercise.

The screening site work is still under review with no proposals yet over proposed job role changes, if any.

It was agreed that any new developments on either the screening site or WCP will be forwarded to the branch and members will be informed to aid negotiations on the changes. PCS would advise members to direct any concerns or suggestions to their line manager in the first instance and copy in the branch to any emails. As soon as the branch receives any further details on the screening site review and WCP structure we will post an update on our here on our website.
