In May the branch was informed by members that “stat sheets” had been introduced in Criminal Casework (CC). We wrote to the Assistant Director to voice our concerns as performance is usually measured on the basis of removals/detention and in meeting deadlines and were not aware of any Trade Union engagement on the introduction of such “stat sheets”. At this point we also stated that if this was to be introduced across CC that consultation should be held with the PCS Group Lead for Immigration Enforcement at departmental level.

PCS were advised that the purpose was to capture the key tasks staff undertake on a daily basis to assist managers with workflow planning and allocation, prioritisation of scanning for the volunteers in the office during the COVID-19 pandemic and to highlight any tasks that are proving difficult, or can’t be undertaken, outside the office. We were not advised that these sheets were to measure an individuals' performance or would be used in performance management.

We have now been told by members that the new “performance sheet” and “performance tool” have been introduced and are concerned that members have been told in Skype calls that they have been agreed with PCS. We are sure members will have concerns, not least that these will be used to monitor performance.

As this has been introduced at multiple sites, in addition to Liverpool, that are covered by several PCS branches, in line with standard practice we have escalated the matter to the PCS Group lead for Immigration Enforcement at departmental level and will publish any updates from the Group lead when we get it.
