There has never been a more important time to be a member of a Union. Join PCS now.

To join PCS just click on this link. Alternatively, if you have a hard copy application form you can pass it to a local PCS rep or hand it in or send it to the Branch PCS office in room 1.19 (Red Zone) in the Capital Building.

If you pass your form to us locally, our Branch Organiser will add your name to our local database and distribution list then send your form on to PCS Membership Records to be processed. You will be regarded as having joined PCS when we receive your form in the Branch office. If you join online PCS HQ will tell us when your membership has started.

If you are a temporary member of staff you are still entitled to join PCS. In fact, the first 6 months of membership is free for all temporary workers. You can join PCS here and your subscriptions will only commence 6 months from the date you join.

If you are based in an unrecognised workplace (where an employer has not recognised a union for collective bargaining purposes) you can still join here.

Personal assistance

PCS reps are often approached by non-union staff asking to join the union. Some want to join because they are having problems at work and want advice or representation

While PCS always welcomes new members, those looking to join in order to obtain representation need to know that PCS does not handle retrospective cases which began, or arose, prior to taking out union membership. There is no point ringing an insurance company to ask for retrospective cover the day after your car has been written off. They won't have it and neither will we as it is unfair on existing members of the branch.

The only way for any non-member to be protected is to join PCS - the biggest Civil Service Trade Union now: not only for representation (should it be needed), but so that you can be part of a union that campaigns to protect terms and conditions and has its’ members' best interests at heart.
