What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a first-gen graduate has meant working hard to create opportunities for myself and pushing past barriers to take control of my future.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
Finding out I was admitted as Regent’s Scholar.
What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?
Whenever you find yourself doubting your abilities, remember how much you’ve achieved so far. You’re here for a reason and you do belong.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
My mother, who has always worked so hard to provide for us and who raised me to be strong and independent. Cara, for being the best big sister and helping me write essays. Stoney, for being a supportive partner who always cheers me on. All my friends at UCSD who helped me make great memories.
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I’m grateful for all of the professors who have shared their passion for the law with me. I’m grateful for the staff at the Writing Hub who have helped me develop professionally and intellectually.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
I’ll be heading to UCLA Law after graduation. Go Bruins!
