• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?/¿Qué significa para ti ser un graduado universitario de primera generación?

Being a first generation college graduate represents not only my resilience but also the resilience of my family before me. If it weren't for the unconditional love from my family, I am not sure I would have made it to this monumental moment.

Ser un graduado universitario de primera generación no solamente representa mi resistencia pero también la resistencia de mi familiares antes de mi. Si no hubiera sido por el amor incondicional de mi familia, yo creo que no hubiera logrado este momento monumental.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?/¿Cuál es su momento de mayor orgullo de su tiempo en UC San Diego?

My proudest moment was when I got my first stole for graduation in the mail. It was the first time I felt like I could acknowledge and accept all of my hard work that I had put in to my studies. From all of the long nights and long study sessions, I finally felt like I made it.

El momento que he estado más orgullosa fue cuando recibí mi primera estola en el correo. Por primera vez, sentí que ya puedo reconocer y aceptar todo mi esfuerzo que le he puesto a mis estudios. Desde todas las noches largas y las sesiones de estudio, por fin sentí que ya lo había logrado.

• What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?/¿Qué consejo tienes para los estudiantes de primera generación actuales o futuros?

Don't be afraid to ask questions or be someone that doesn't understand something! We all started at ground 0 at some point.

¡No tengas miedo de hacer preguntas o ser alguien que no entiende algo! Todos empezamos desde 0 en un punto.

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?/¿Quiénes son los familiares, amigos o seres queridos que han sido más influyentes a lo largo de su trayectoria universitaria? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que le gustaría compartir con ellos?

To my fellow Women's lacrosse players, thank you for helping shape who I have become. Together we got through all the tough practices, games, classes and exams. I am beyond grateful for the family we have become!

A todas mis compañeras del equipo de lacrosse, muchas gracias por haberme formado quien soy yo ahora. Juntas endurecimos las prácticas, juegos, clases y exámenes. ¡Estoy muy agradecida por la familia que hemos creado!

• Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?/¿Quiénes son el personal, la facultad o los mentores que han sido más influyentes a lo largo de su trayectoria universitaria? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que le gustaría compartir con ellos?

To the Biology Professors that have become my mentors throughout the years, thank you so much! It was through your kindness and willingness to teach to everyone that I felt welcomed into what seemed like a cut-throat environment. You have all inspired me to continue on in science and pursue a Master's Degree.

¡A todos los maestros de biología que han sido mis mentores durante todos estos años, muchas gracias! Fue su bondad y sus ganas de enseñar a todos que me hicieron sentir bienvenida en un mundo que aparentemente es muy difícil. Todos ustedes me han inspirado a continuar con mis estudios en ciencias y hacer mi maestría.

• What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?/¿Qué planea o espera hacer después de graduarse?

After graduating this June, I plan to attend graduate school in the Fall!
