What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
First-generation college graduate means to me is ending the cycle of uneducated parents.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
My proudest moment at UC San Diego is receiving graduate school admissions.
What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?
Do not doubt yourself and your abilities. You are here for a reason.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
It takes a village to raise a family, especially when attending school full-time. I cannot thank my family, extended family, and friends who have supported me through my educational journey enough. My support system encouraged me through various emotions, from joyous moments and the times I needed words of encouragement. Thank you!
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
Building community has been one of the main reasons why I have been successful at UC San Diego. Being a part of CASP and Trio SSP has enables me to build friendships, meet professors, navigate campus, and believe in myself. Without these programs, I do not think I would be as successful as a student.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
I will be entering UCSD's M.Ed/Multiple Subject Credential Program this coming Fall. I am excited to continue my education and be influential for others like myself.
