What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a first-generation college graduate means that overcoming social limitations and embracing where one comes from in the end will always pay off.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
My proudest moment at UCSD was landing an internship that granted me the opportunity to assist my community with legal matters and the opportunity of networking with Superior Court Judges.
What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?
My biggest advice is to not overthink anything, take any opportunity that comes your way and always maintain a support group close to you.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
My family has definitely been my biggest motivator in this college journey but without the mutual support of my colleagues and friends I would have not been the student and person I am today. Thanks to a lot of my peers and friends I reinforced my discipline and study habits. I was constantly reminded that I was not alone in this journey and that despite the hate in this world, when one genuinely cares about helping the community anything is possible through perseverance, love and determination.
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I am eternally grateful for the lessons I learned at UCSD from all my professors and my CASP mentors. I take with me not only academic lessons but many life lessons that will stick with me forever.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
After graduating UCSD I plan on attending Law School.
