• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?

To me being first-generation means persevering. Going to college as a first-generation student can be overwhelming but it's also a sign of strength and bravery for walking something so unfamiliar.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?

My proudest moment was when I became a Peer Coach for the First-Generation Student Success Coaching Program. Having the opportunity to help other first-generation students like myself has been amazing especially when students tell me that I've made a positive impact on their UCSD experience. Becoming a Peer Coach is one of the best choices I've ever made.

• What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?

Take advantage of the resources you have, they're there for you and they can be incredibly helpful. Reach out to your professors, it's important to make those connections and you may find some great opportunities. Also, don't forget to take breaks and enjoy your college experience.

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

I want to say thank you to my family for always supporting me and encouraging me to go after my goals. And thank you to all of my friends who helped make UCSD an amazing fun experience.

• Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

I want to thank the Success Coaching Program for helping me find my path and for giving me the sense of community I needed on campus. And a special thank you to my Success Coaches Noel, Lindsay, and Juan Carlos, I truly appreciate all that you've helped me through.

• What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?

I'm looking forward to having more time to spend with my friends and family. I also plan on prepping for Medical School
