• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?

Being a first-generation college student is an extraordinary achievement that allows me to serve as a role model and inspiration to my parents, siblings, and future generations. As a college graduate I now have the opportunity for upward mobility and success.

Ser una estudiante universitaria de primera generación es un logro extraordinario que me permite servir como modelo e inspiración para mis padres, hermanos y futuras generaciones. Como graduada de la universidad, ahora tengo la oportunidad de ascender y tener éxito.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?

Having the opportunity to meet my best friends, amazing professors, and to expand my knowledge on what I truly love.

Tener la oportunidad de conocer a mis mejores amigos, profesores increíbles y ampliar mi conocimiento sobre lo que realmente amo.

• What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?

Keep pushing and working hard, the only thing holding you back are your own doubts and fears. Your efforts will overcome the struggles your family went through to get you here.

Sigue luchando y trabajando duro, lo único que te detiene son tus propias dudas y miedos. Tus esfuerzos superarán las luchas por las que pasó tu familia para llegar aquí.

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

To my friends and family, thank you for all the support you have given me through this journey, I push myself to make you proud. To my family, thank you so much for raising a strong capable young woman who believes she is unstoppable against the world. I am eternally grateful for everything you did to get me here, this degree is in my name but it truly belongs to you.

A mis amigos y familiares, gracias por todo el apoyo que me han brindado a lo largo de este viaje. Me esforcé para hacerlos sentir orgullosos. A mi familia, muchas gracias por criar a una joven fuerte y capaz, que cree que es imparable contra el mundo. Estoy eternamente agradecida por todo lo que hicieron para traerme aquí. Este título está a mi nombre, pero realmente, les pertenece a ustedes.

• Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

To my professors and HDH staff, your kind words and helping hand are what motivated me to keep trying. Your support and helping hands made me feel like I had a family away from home.

Para mis profesores y el personal de HDH, sus amables palabras y su ayuda fueron lo que me motivó a seguir intentándolo. Su apoyo y su ayuda me hicieron sentir como si tuviera una familia lejos de casa.

• What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?

I plan on completing a graduate degree, majoring in industrial organizational psychology and eventually working in the field.
