What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a first-generation graduate means the world to me. My parents worked hard and sacrificed so much just to give me the opportunity to even go to college. Being able to graduate despite all the hardship means a lot.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
My proudest moment at UC San Diego is when I realized that I didn't want to be an engineer. I realized my true passion was in the arts and instead of trying to pursue a degree in computer science, I declared music as my major and added a film production minor.
What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?
Listen to your heart and follow your dreams!
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I would like to thank my friends and family for being there for me throughout these last few years. I wouldn't have been able to get through college without their support
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I'm very grateful to have been in the Student Success Coaching program. My mentors Maria, James, and Rachel have been there to support me in many ways and I'm thankful to have had them throughout the years. I'm grateful for my professors and I hope to carry on their lessons as I grow older.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
I'm going to take a well deserved break from school and I hope to make a difference in the film industry one day.
