• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you? / ¿Qué significa para ti ser un graduado universitario de primera generación?

Being First Generation means opening more doors for my community and the future of my family. I hope with this degree I am given more chances to show my worth and mark this world as a professional creative.

Ser una graduada universitaria de primera generación significa poder abrir más oportunidades para mi comunidad y el futuro de mi familia. Con esta licenciatura, espero que me den oportunidades para demostrar mi valor y dejar una impresión en este mundo como un profesional creativo.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD? / ¿Cuál es su momento de mayor orgullo de su tiempo en UC San Diego?

My proudest moment was when I was gathered with other students in a Brown Issues pop up and we just share our art, our love and passion for community.

Mi momento más orgulloso fue cuando me junté con otros alumnos en un grupo que hablaba de asuntos de “gente de color”. Compartimos nuestro arte, nuestro amor y pasión para la comunidad.

• What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?/ ¿Qué consejo tienes para los estudiantes de primera generación actuales o futuros?

Take advantage of every opportunity that UCSD has to offer. Whenever you have a chance just research what you can apply to, what can help you and what can't. Stay strong and always push yourself for higher growth because this world will not hand you opportunities, you must look for them.

Tomen ventaja de cada oportunidad que UCSD ofrezca. Cuando tengan tiempo, investiguen en donde puedan aplicar, lo que los ayuda y lo que no. Manténganse fuertes y siempre sigan desarrollándose porque este mundo no les regala oportunidades, tienen que buscarlas.

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them? / ¿Quiénes son los familiares, amigos o seres queridos que han sido más influyentes a lo largo de su trayectoria universitaria? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que le gustaría compartir con ellos?

I am grateful for my family because even as Covid hit and I almost went homeless, I was able to latch on to them for support. They've been the backbone behind my ability to continue studying.

Estoy agradecida por mi familia porque cuando la pandemia empezó y casi me quedé sin un lugar para vivir, me apoyaron. Han sido la columna vertebral detrás de mi habilidad para seguir estudiando.

• What do you plan or hope to do after graduating? / Qué planea o espera hacer después de graduarse?

Looking for entry level jobs and I plan on creating a new production house for LGBTQIA+ BIPOC folx .

Buscaré trabajos de nivel de entrada y planeo crear una empresa de producción para gente LGBTQIA+ y BIPOC.
