• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?/¿Qué significa, para ti, ser una graduada universitaria de primera generación?

Not being able to rely on my parents to guide me through my college career means that I had to take the extra step of figuring things out myself. It meant reaching out to others for support. It meant being the model for my brother and family to come. It means that I have a greater push to succeed during my four years here. It means that my grandparent's dreams have come true and their nightly prayers will not be wasted on me.

No poder confiar en mis padres para que me guíen a lo largo de mi carrera universitaria significa que tuve que dar un paso adicional para resolver las cosas por mí misma. Significaba buscar apoyo en otros. Significó ser el modelo para el futuro de mi hermano y mi familia. Significa que tengo un mayor impulso para tener éxito durante mis cuatro años aquí. Significa que los sueños de mis abuelos se han hecho realidad y sus oraciones nocturnas no serán en vano para mí.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?/¿Cuál es tu momento de mayor orgullo durante tu tiempo en UC San Diego?

As I attended various talks, took classes, joined organizations, and studied abroad I always prioritized my future career and how those experiences tailor to it. I was able to figure out my calling early on and have made my college experience that much better by connecting my experiences to it.

Como asistí a varias charlas, tomé clases, me uní a organizaciones, estudié fuera del país, siempre priorice mi carrera futura y cómo esas experiencias se adaptan a ella. Pude entender mi vocación desde el principio y he mejorado mucho mi experiencia universitaria al conectar mis experiencias con ella.

• What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?/¿Qué consejo le darías a los estudiantes actuales de primera generación?

College is more than your academics, it's how you make use of the network. UC San Diego is filled with qualified, inspirational individuals that have their own stories. Reach out to alumni as well!

La universidad es más que tus conocimientos académicos, es cómo haces uso de la red. UC San Diego está llena de personas calificadas e inspiradoras que tienen sus propias historias. ¡Comuníquese con los exalumnos también!

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?/¿Quiénes son las personas que han sido las más influyentes a lo largo de tu trayectoria universitaria (amigos, familia, comunidad, seres queridos)? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que te gustaría compartir con ellos?

My family was my top supporter as they heard my achievements, challenges and learning moments.

Mi familia fue mi principal apoyo al escuchar mis logros, desafíos y momentos de aprendizaje.

• Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?/¿Quiénes son las personas de UC San Diego que han sido las más influyentes a lo largo de tu trayectoria universitaria (personal, profesores, mentores, etc.)? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que te gustaría compartir con ellos?

I've been happy to have multiple inspirational business professors that are shaping us to be as socially, ethically, environmentally conscious when conducting business.

Estoy feliz de tener varios profesores de negocios inspiradores que nos están moldeando para ser social, éticamente y ambientalmente conscientes al hacer negocios.

• What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?/¿Qué planeas o esperas hacer después de graduarte?

I plan on working full time within a global supply chain management role.

Planeo trabajar a tiempo completo en una función de gestión de la cadena de suministro global.
