• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you? / Que significa ser graduado de primera generación para ti?

Being a first-generation student is incredibly honorable for me, as it is wonderful to have accomplished an achievement that has the ability to inspire and motivate those around me, my family, and friends. It is a role that I will forever pride myself in attaining, as I hope my story and overcoming of struggles to successfully receive my higher education may be used to uplift and encourage, not only to others, but ultimately myself in future hardships.

Ser un estudiante de primera generación es increíblemente honorable para mí. Es maravilloso haber logrado un logro que tiene la capacidad de inspirar y motivar a quienes me rodean, a mi familia y a mis amigos. Es un honor del que siempre me enorgulleceré en lograr, ya que espero que mi historia y la superación de mis luchas para recibir este éxito en mi educación puedan usarse para elevar y alentar, no sólo a los demás, pero también a mí mismo en futuras dificultades.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD? / Cual es el momento que te hace mas orgulloso en tu tiempo en UC San Diego?

My proudest moment at UC San Diego would have to be any time there was an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than me, develop leadership skills, and positively grow as an individual to improve and understand the world through education.

Mi momento de mayor orgullo en UC San Diego tendría que ser cualquier momento en el que tuve la oportunidad de ser parte de algo más grande que yo, desarrollar habilidades de liderazgo y crecer positivamente como individuo para mejorar y comprender el mundo a través de mi educación.

• What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students? / Que consejos tienes para futuros estudiantes de primera generación?

In moments when you feel alone, remember there is an entire University awaiting to serve you in times of need, please do not hesitate to ask, as they want to help you. As well as, never give up on your dreams!

En momentos en los que te sientas solo, recuerda que hay toda una universidad esperando para servirte. En momentos de necesidad, no dudes en preguntar, ya que quieren ayudarte. También, ¡nunca renuncies a tus sueños!

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them? / Quienes son familiares o amigos que te influenciaron más en tu carrera de universidad? Tienes algunas palabras para ellos?

To my family, friends and my supporting girlfriend - I couldn't have gotten this far without you in my life, thank you for being there when I needed you the most, and being my motivation to continue studying to someday assist others in need.

A mi familia, amigos y mi novia que me apoyo: no podría haber llegado tan lejos sin ustedes en mi vida. Gracias por estar allí cuando más los necesitaba y por ser mi motivación para seguir estudiando para algún día ayudar a otros necesitados.

• Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? • What do you plan or hope to do after graduating? / Cuales son tus planes después de graduación?

I will be attending San Diego State University to complete my Masters of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. GO AZTECS!
