What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a first-generation college graduate means that all my hard work has paid off!
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
My proudest moment from my time here at UC San Diego was being a mentor through the PAL program. I was able to teach lessons to fifth and sixth graders about social-emotional learning, tutor in various subject areas, and ultimately create long lasting bonds with students of diverse backgrounds.
What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students?
To any first-gen student: you are worthy and you deserve to be here.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
Wow where do I begin? To my mom, thank you for always believing in me. To my husband, thank you for your unconditional love and support. To my grandmas & aunts, thank you for being my biggest cheerleaders. To my bestfriend Brittney, thank you for always pushing me to be the best version of myself. To Masha, Cami, Sam, & Gee - thank you for the endless laughs and memories. I could not have done it without you all.
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I would like to thank Dr. Amy Bintliff for being the most passionate, inspirational, and caring professor I've ever had. She is that person who makes you feel as if you can do anything you set your mind to.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
I plan on getting my Masters of School Counseling.
