• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you? /¿Qué significa, para ti, ser una graduada universitaria de primera generación?

Being a First Generation College Graduate to me means having the courage and determination to push against the institutions that were not made for me. It means being able to say "I made it" but not stopping here.

Ser una graduada universitaria de primera generación, significa para mí haber tenido el coraje y determinación de avanzar y luchar en contra de instituciones que no fueron hechas para mí. Significa ser capaz de decir “lo hice”, sin dejar de seguir adelante.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD? /¿Cuál es tu momento de mayor orgullo durante tu tiempo en UC San Diego?

My proudest moment at UCSD was never giving up even though there was a moment I did not want to continue. I felt alone, lost and confused and I wanted to run back home. I am proud of myself for proving myself wrong. I found my community, my passion, and most importantly I found my strength through the challenges I encountered.

Mi momento más orgulloso en UCSD fue el nunca renunciar, inclusive cuando había momentos en los cuales no quería continuar. Me sentí sola, perdida y confundida, y quise regresar a casa. Me siento orgullosa de no haberlo hecho. Aquí encontré mi comunidad, mi pasión y lo más importante, encontré la fuerza para vencer los retos encontrados.

• What advice do you have for current or future first-generation students? /¿Qué consejo le darías a los estudiantes actuales de primera generación?

Be patient with yourself. It’ll all work out. Trust yourself. You got this far.

Sé paciente contigo mismo. Todo resultará bien. Confía en ti mismo. Recuerda que ya has llegado lejos.

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?/¿Quiénes son las personas que han sido las más influyentes a lo largo de tu trayectoria universitaria (amigos, familia, comunidad, seres queridos)? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que te gustaría compartir con ellos?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for the amazing support and people in my life. Thank you to those with me from the start. To those I met along the way that made the journey so much more fun. All my love ♡

Gracias, gracias y gracias. No estaría donde estoy de no ser por el maravilloso apoyo e increíbles personas en mi vida. Gracias a aquellos que han estado conmigo desde el principio. A aquellos que conocí en el camino y que hicieron el recorrido mucho más divertido. Todo mi amor para ustedes. ♡

Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?/¿Quiénes son las personas de UC San Diego que han sido las más influyentes a lo largo de tu trayectoria universitaria (personal, profesores, mentores, etc.)? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que te gustaría compartir con ellos?

To Professor Bruna Mori- for your amazing enthusiasm. Your time and commitment to your students reignited my own passion in poetry all over again.

To Coach Noel Salaguna- for being my first pillar of guidance at UCSD.

A la Profesora Bruna Mori, por su gran entusiasmo. Su tiempo y compromiso con sus estudiantes, reencendieron mi propia pasión por la poesía. Al entrenador Noel Salaguna, por ser mi primer pilar guía en UCSD.

• What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?/¿Qué planeas o esperas hacer después de graduarte?

I am hoping to continue breaking down barriers by being the first in my family to graduate from law school. Wish me luck!
