WHAT: Sound+Science is an innovative after-school program, research lab, and community in NYC for high school students interested in exploring the unique and deep connection between music, science, and technology. Through a unique curriculum, participants will explore modules like ‘The Hidden Codes in Electronic Music’, ‘From Hip-Hop to AI’, and Music Improvisation and the Evolution of the Mathematics of Computation Sound+Science, revealing the profound connections between music, technology, physics and mathematics. Participants can look forward to Masterclass Lectures, where industry experts shed light on the confluence of music and technology and the Studio Labs, which provide a hands-on environment for participants to apply their knowledge, fostering creativity and collaboration. Sound+Science will also offer a challenging and supportive environment that pairs high school students with local college STEM majors as they work together on Incentive-based projects designed to challenge and motivate participants to create real-world applications that resonate with musicians, producers, and coders while facilitating knowledge exchange and mutual growth.

WHAT: The Youth Action 50 (YA50) is a dynamic leadership initiative designed to empower the next generation of changemakers and young civic leaders. YA50 recognizes the critical role young people play in driving innovative solutions and social progress. The program brings together 50 Youth groups from diverse backgrounds to participate in transformative experiences that blend education, skill-building, hands-on advocacy, and access to experts via partnerships. Each group will be awarded $1,000 to support their vision.

PROJECT PETALS YOUTH BUILDERS ENVIRONMENTAL FELLOWSHIP (PAID)
WHO: Young leaders, ages 18–27
WHAT: This inaugural fellowship recognizes young leaders, ages 18–27, who are passionate about addressing the urgent challenges of climate change and environmental inequity in their communities. Five recipients will receive a monetary seed grant of $500 to fund a project they are leading. Recipients are chosen by the Project Petals Fellowship Advisory Committee. The ideal applicants are young people from frontline and under-resourced communities who are eager to design community-driven environmental solutions, strengthen their leadership skills, and take an active role in building a more just, equitable, and sustainable future. Applicants to the Project Petals Youth Builders Environmental Fellowship should demonstrate a strong commitment to climate justice, environmental conservation, community engagement, and a clear vision for creating tangible impact on the ground.

WHO: Highschool Students in 9-11 grade
WHAT: The Tisch Spring Future Artists Program is a pre-college program that is FREE of charge, open to all eligible students, and centered on educational opportunities in studying in the arts with the same rigor and training offered in the undergraduate departments. It is designed for students who may not have access to other programs in their schools and/or communities and who would qualify for financial aid at NYU. This program is open to all interested first-years, sophomores, and juniors in high school. Students of all backgrounds are eligible for participation in this program; those from groups traditionally underrepresented in the media industry are encouraged to apply.

WHEN: Students MUST commit to attending all of the classes during the 14-week program on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET (hours vary by department but will fall within this time) from January 31, 2026 - May 9, 2026 and is taught by faculty from the undergraduate departments. You must be available on those dates and times for the entire duration of the program. Students who miss class for any reason may be dismissed from the program.

BARUCH COLLEGE STEM RESEARCH ACADEMY (PAID)
WHO: Must be a current NYC Public High School 10th or 11th grader when applying by December with an overall 80+ average.
WHAT: The Baruch College STEM Research Academy is a two-semester program aimed at NYC public high school students. Initially, during the spring semester, you will be enrolled in a college-credit research methods course designed to equip you with the essential tools of scientific inquiry. This includes formulating research questions, designing experiments, performing literature searches, and critically engaging with scientific literature, all aimed at preparing you for the expectations and rigor of working in a research lab environment.
Successful completion of this course, with at least a grade of C, paves the way for a hands-on, six-week summer research experience under the guidance of CUNY research faculty, where you can choose to dive into a research internship. The program's objectives are centered on developing a profound understanding of the nature of science, acquainting students with the culture of scientific research, and enhancing literacy skills critical for success in science. This culminates in a team-based presentation of your research findings at the CUNY STEM Research Exhibition and the NYC Science Research Mentoring Consortium Summer Symposium.

WHO: High School students ages ages 14-22
WHAT: The B-Side is a program for young people that provides an introduction to different career opportunities in the music industry. This program provides future music-industry leaders with essential related skills and facilitates connections with performing artists, music-industry executives, accomplished producers, songwriters, and more. The B-Side curriculum, designed by Carnegie Hall teaching artists and music industry professionals, is supported by guest-speaker panels, field trips, networking events, and more.
