圣·德克旭贝里（Antoine de Saiot-Exupery），1900年出生于法国里昂，1921-1923年在法国空军中服役，曾是后备飞行员，后来又成为民用航空驾驶员，参加了开 辟 法国——非洲——南美 国际航线的工作，其间他还从事文学写作，作品有《南线班机》（1930），《夜航》（1931）等等。
1939年德国法西斯入侵法国，鉴于圣·德克旭贝里曾多次受伤，医生认为他不能再入伍参战；但经他坚决要求，参加了抗德战争，被编入 2/33 空军侦察大队。1940年法国在战争中溃败，他所在的部队损失惨重，该部被调往阿尔及尔，随后即被复员，他只身流亡美国。在美国期间，他继续从事写 作，1940年发表了《战斗飞行员》，1943年发表了《给一个人质的信》以及《小王子》。
1943年，在他的强烈要求下，他回到法国在北非的抗战基地阿尔及尔。他的上级考虑到他的身体和年龄状况，只同意他执行五次飞行任务，他却要求到八次，1944年7月31日上午，他出航执行第八次任务，从此再也没有回来，牺牲时，年仅44岁。

SAINT-EXUPERY, Antoine de (1900-44). An adventurous pilot and a lyrical poet, Antoine de Saint-Exupery conveyed in his books the solitude and mystic grandeur of the early days of flight. He described dangerous adventures in the skies and also wrote the whimsical children's fable 'The Little Prince'. Antoine-Marie-Roger de Saint-Exupery was born on June 29, 1900, in Lyon, France.
In the 1920s he helped establish airmail routes overseas. During World War II he flew as a military reconnaissance pilot. After the Germans occupied France in 140, he escaped to the United States. He rejoined the air force in North
Africa in 143.
During what was to have been his final reconnaissance mission over the Mediterrnean Sea, he died when his plane was shot down on July 31, 1944.
Saint-Exupery's first book, 'Southern Mail', was about the life and death of an airmail pilot. It was published in French in 1929. Other books include 'Night Flight' (1931), about the first airline pilots, and 'Wind, Sand, and Stars' (199), in which he describes his feelings during flights over the desert.
'The Little Prince' (1943), which in a way is really a children's book for grown-ups, was written during Saint-Exupery's stay in the United States. A gentle and thoughtful book, it tells the story of a boy who lives alone on a tiny planet.
A final volume of reflections, which provides an insight into the author's view on the meaning of life, is 'The Wisdom of the Sands' (1948). This book was publshed after the pilot's death.

两年前，正是我刚开始上网的时候。那时天天沉迷于icq、bbs、netmeeting。。。疯狂地认识所有在网上遇到的人。其中有一个在icq上认识的 女孩，是从香港到澳洲念书的，一个感觉极其细腻敏感甚至敏感地有点神经质的女孩。给我介绍了这本《小王子》。她在我看之前很自信的说"真想看看你看到小王 子走的时候泪流满面的样子"我不以为然，还有东西能让我感动吗？
可是，还没等我看到小王子走，在"驯服"那一章里我就忍不住哭了。。。究竟是什么这样触动了我的内心啊！
于是，我便永远记住了那个女孩。虽然我不再上icq，也许这一辈子也没什么机会在遇到她了。
两年后，在书店突然见到《小王子》的中文版书有卖，刹那间高兴得几乎要哭了！从此以后，《小王子》便一直陪伴在我枕边，心累了的时候，就打开看看，就像在 沙漠中喝到了甘甜的水一样。在群星灿烂的夜晚，也会傻傻地对着星星们笑，因为，在某个地方，也许就在我的内心深处，在闪闪发光。。。
