Installation
Should I use precompiled versions of Analysis or try to compile the software from source code?
Various problems with compiling Analysis from source have been reported for different platforms, and generally the easiest way to install Analysis is by using the precompiled versions that can be downloaded from here. In case no version is listed that is compatible with your system try to compile Analysis from source, or notify the developers about your needs.
Is it possible to run different versions of Analysis in parallel?
Yes, there should be no problem with having different installations running side by side as long as the directories are separated, e.g ccpnmr/ccpnmr1.0 and ccpnmr/ccpnmr2.0 for version 1.0 and version 2.0.
Which Python versions are compatible with Analysis?
In principle it Analysis works with python 2.4 or higher (see also Download and installation), however, issues have been reported with Python 2.6. To make sure your Analysis installation works regardless of your local python installation you can use one of the precompiled Analysis versions that come with a working python version 2.5 (see here).
Analysis version 2.0 reports python warnings on startup. What does this mean?
Some functionality in analysis requires additional modules in order to run properly:
Automated assignment routines require the package Numpy. In case you don't have it, Analysis will give the warning:
"WARNING: Python NumPy module not installed or accessible. NumPy is required for CcpNmr automatic assignment routines."
In case you don't need the automated assignment routines you can work normally with Analysis.
Submitting CCPN projects to the CING server requires libssl.so.0.9.8. If you have a different version of this library you will get the warning:
* Warning * Cannot import Python module urllib2.
- Please check your SSL libraries.
- Submission to to the iCing server will not work.
No module named _md5
In case you can't install the proper library, you can access CING via the iCing webpage: http://nmr.cmbi.ru.nl/icing/iCing.html
Can I copy/move an Analysis project from one platform to another without problems, e.g. from Windows to UNIX?
Yes you can. In case of an Analysis v2 project you can simply copy the project folder from one platform to the other. In the case of v1 projects you also need to copy the top-level XML file.Â
How can I get the installation to work for Analysis / Extend-NMR / FormatConverter?
Read the installation instructions carefully.
Check the HowTos for your anything for your specific platform.
Remember that for the binary .tgz release the configRelease.py script should be run. Maybe list the exact commands that need to be run.
Remember that the contents of the ccpnmr/bin/directory will need to be on the executable path.
If not already already tried, consider the .exe, .dmg, .deb or .rpm packages to install with a native package manager. (For Windows,Mac, Ubuntu/Debian, Fedora/Suse). These will all be ready for the next release.
It should be easy, but if things still don't work, email the JISC list (CCPNMR@JISCMAIL.AC.UK).
