Releases, upgrades and updates

Releases

The CcpNmr Analysis software is continuously developed and released in different versions for 32 and 64 bit Linux, Mac OS and Windows platforms. The software is available as source code or as precompiled binary distributions, of which the latter are recommended for most of the users. Downloads for the current CCPN software versions can be found here.

Upgrades and updates

New versions are released after significant changes to the functionality or user interface of the software have been made. The user can upgrade to these versions either by downloading the latest version from the download site, or using the automatic update functionality from within the program.

The CCPN developer team intends to maintain 2 versions actively:

Both the stable and the development versions are continuously updated after bug reports or selected feature requests have been dealt with or incorporated. CCPN only provides updates for the latest stable version, so it is important to upgrade to the latest version. For more information on problems with installations, bug reports and to help the development of the software we recommend users to sign up to the ccpnmr mailing list.

These updates are sometimes posted on a daily basis and are primarily used to fix bugs. If a bug is reported to the CCPN development team which is subsequently fixed, the fix is communicated to the latest version (only) via the up. Also, the fix will naturally appear in the next release. Because of the continuous improvement and correction, it is important to install all of the available updates before submitting a bug report; the bug may have already been fixed. Some updates may provide extra functionality, but only if the leading edge version is used. The updates may be listed and installed via the M: Project:Updates menu option in Analysis.

All CCPN projects from previous version 2 releases can be imported directly into the latest versions. Version 1 projects first need to be converted to version 2 projects, which can be done using our project conversion web interface here.
