Negative Space Leaves

I'm calling this project Negative Space Leaves because there is empty positive space where the leaves should be. The subject is leave silhouettes based off of leaves. I chose to create this specific work because I wanted the negative space to have an ombre effect. For materials I used sharpe, color pencils and pencils. I used a variety of techniques and methods including shading the negative space and silhouetting the leaves. While creating this work, I paid close attention to the pattern of the fern by looking at the leaf itself while creating this project. I wanted my artwork to look colorful and I did that by adding a spectrum of colors. To add interest to my composition, I used pattern by carefully drawing the leaves of the fern. I like the way my colors ended up blending together and I am proud of my intricacy when drawing my leaves. However I struggled with filling in the smaller negative spaces. If I created another work like this I may add more leaves to have less negative space. My work shows that I learned the difference between negative and positive space.
