Donate Life

I’m calling this project, Donate Life because it is a persuasive piece to convince people to sign up for organ donation. The subject is a wave with a life ring on it and my second piece is a heart made out of shapes, but I will be focusing on my first piece. I chose to create this specific work because I wanted to convince my audience to sign up for donating their organs, but I didn’t want it to be gory so my audience wouldn’t be scared. It also makes the reader think. When I was creating this I had gentle and calming idea in mind.

For materials, I used sharpie, markers, pen, and watercolor. I used watercolor to blend the colors of the waves. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: outlining, blending and contrast. While creating this work, I paid close attention to the ombre of the sunset and not making the colors look choppy. I wanted my artwork to look calming and I did this by making the colors blend and using light colors.

I like the way the wave gets lighter and you reach the surface because it gives a move realistic look of the wave crashing. However, I struggled with blending the wave. If I created another work like this I may have spent more time on my sedan one and created a background for it. My work shows that I learned how to spread awareness through art.
