Extended Gelatin Print

I'm calling this project Extraterrestrial because I wasn't sure what my image had become, but I knew it was unearthly. The subject of my image is the tentacles and the brain of the creature because this is what I extended from the gelatin print. I chose to create this specific work because I saw many squiggly lines running of the page and I wanted to use them to create something that cam out of the frame of the gelatin print. For materials I used, yarn to create the print, ink to print the print, and gelatin to put the ink onto. I also utilized Sharpie and colored pens when drawing the tentacles. I used a variety of methods and techniques including: printing, outlining and drawing. While creating this work I paid close attention to how far I let my tentacles run off the print by not letting them run off the page. I wanted by artwork to look spooky and I did that by making it seem like an alien or a squid of some sort. To add interest to my composition, I used movement by intertwining the tentacles to make it look like they are actively moving. I like that way the tentacles turned out and I am proud of the different shapes and colors I utilized when making the print. However, I struggled with deciding where to place the tentacles on the print. If I created another work like this I may not have added the brain from the top because it doesn't add much to the piece. My work shows that I learned how to extend a gelatin print using my imagination.
