I’m calling this project, my time capsules because it will show at the end of the semester how much I’ve grown.. The subject is the corner of my face, my clothes, and my hand in a cool gesture. I chose to create this specific work because I wanted to see how much I will grow by the end of the semester. When I was creating this I had the realistic aspect in mind.
For materials, I used colored pencil and graphite. I used graphite as a material because they were supposed to be just simple sketches as a material. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: outlining and shading . While creating this work, I paid close attention to my face shape by looking at myself in a mirror. I wanted my artwork to look realistic and I did that by looking at the objects I was drawing.. To add interest to my composition, I used graphite to show the wrinkles in the clothes.
I like the way my hand and clothes look so realistic and I am proud of my clothing. However, I struggled with the corner of my face. If I created another work like this I may not have made a background for my face and chose a different angle of my face. My work shows that I learned to compare my pieces from the beginning to the end.
