Sustained Investigation 1

I’m calling this project, Out of the Woods because the dark swirly-ness looks like vines in the woods and the light looks like the sun and you’re coming out of the woods. The subject is a light with darkness surrounding it. I chose to create this specific work because I wanted to show light despite the darkness and the light is still bright although it is surrounded by dark. When I was creating this I had an abstract idea in mind.

For materials, I used ink. I used ink for the whole thing. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: blending. While creating this work, I paid close attention making sure the colors were dark on the outside and light on the inside. I wanted my artwork to look abstract and I did this by not using much much except for the circle in the middle

I like the way the light is in the middle because it shows light penetrating the darkness. However, I struggled with keeping the ink in line. If I created another work like this I may have added more darkness to show that there is more darkness and light can still shine through. My work shows that I learned how to show light despite the darkness in the world through color.
