Sustained Investigation #2

I’m calling this project, light giver because I am trying to show that other people can give light to others. The subject is a bright person holding hands with a darker person and he is spreading light to the dark one. I chose to create this specific work because I wanted to show light despite the darkness and the light is spreading to the dark. When I was creating this I had an abstract idea in mind.

For materials, I used magazine scraps, and acrylic paint. I used magazine for the people and paint for the background. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: cutting and layering. While creating this work, I paid close attention making sure the whole paper was covered. I wanted my artwork to make you think and I did this by adding smaller pieces of yellow in the dark girl.

I like the way the light has an effect of moving into the dark. However, I struggled with keeping gluing the smaller pieces of magazine. If I created another work like this I may have added more pieces of yellow into the dark person to show more flow. My work shows that I learned how to show light despite the darkness in the world through color.
