Observational Drawing

I’m calling this project, observational drawing because I made a piece of work by observing a real life object. I chose to create this specific work because I like the way the leaves overlap one another and i wanted to do something with nature. When I was creating this I had a realistic idea in mind.

For materials, I used graphite pencil. I used the graphite pencils to make the whole thing. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: shading and playing with shadows. While creating this work, I paid close attention to making sure that I used the right shadows. I wanted my artwork to show the leaves in real life and I did this by showing the shadows

I like the way the shadows look, However, I struggled with making the shadows deeper. If I created another work like this I may do something with different medias so I could get a deeper shadow. My work shows that I learned how to make a piece of work from a real object in front of me.
