The project that we did was a color study. The goal was to use oil pastels to create a piece of work that mixed and analyzed a picture. The subject of my creation is a New York city skyline. The setting of my creation is New York City. I chose to make this specifically because I love New York City. The steps I went through in creating this project are gridding, and mixing color. The materials used when I made this project were oil pastels. I chose to compose my art this way because I wanted to have a nice city while also being abstract.
Some techniques I use while making my art are grinding and mixing color. You can see it all over my photo. At first my project was going to be just a landscape, but it evolved and ended up becoming New York City.
The meaning behind my artwork is showing the beauty of New York City. This project relates to me because I love the city and how pretty is looks at night. If I were to do this project again I would have chosen a different photo because I don’t think it came out as nice as I wanted it to.
