WhatchamaDrawit

I’m calling this project, Uncle Georgie because he looks like a crazy person so I gave him a crazy name. The subject is a person with crazy eyes, a big nose and a funky smile. I chose to create this specific work because I was prompted with a whatchamadrawit card that told me to draw something like this. When I was creating this I had a cool background in mind.

For materials, I used colored pencils. and sharpies I used a tortellin as a material because I wanted to blend my colors. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: blending, and zentangles While creating this work, I paid close attention to spacing out the face by doing it over in pencil first. I wanted my artwork to look abstract and I did that by making a funky face shape. To add interest to my composition, I activated all the sides with ombre zentangles by fading my colored pencils.

I like the way the background and the brightness of the lips contrast with each other because the background is so light and I am proud of the ombre zentangles. However, I struggled with making the eyes look unrealistic and abstract. If I created another work like this I may deepen the color of my colored pencils. My work shows that I learned how to follow a prompt while putting my own spin on it.
