Self Portrait

The project that we did was a mixed media self portrait. The goal was to use multiple tools to create a realistic drawing of yourself. The subject of my creation is me. The setting of my creation is a bedroom I chose to make this specifically because I thought it was a nice picture of me. The steps I went through in creating this project are shading and hatching and outlining. The materials used when I made this project were charcoal and graphite. I chose to compose my art this way because I wanted to have shading and texture in my drawing.

Some techniques I use while making my art are the grid method and hatching with graphite. You can see it in the background of my drawing. At first my project was going to be all graphite, but it evolved and ended up having charcoal the even out the darks and lights.

The meaning behind my artwork is to make a still life. This project relates to me because it is me. If I were to do this project again I would have done the eyes more carefully because I think they are they hardest part of drawing a face.
