I’m calling this project, interpretation because the work can be interpreted in either a positive wa or a negative way. The subject is abstract linear shapes that are meant to show movement. I chose to create this specific work because I wanted to show light despite the darkness and the light is spreading to the dark but some view it as dark taking over the light. When I was creating this I had an abstract idea in mind.
For materials, I used sharpie. I used sharpie for the entire project. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: outlining. While creating this work, I paid close attention making sure the whole paper was covered. I wanted my artwork to have movement in it and I did this by having the shapes going the same direction.
I like the way the light has an effect of moving into the dark. However, I struggled with keeping my colors linear because they bled a lot. If I created another work like this I may have added more gray patches to make the dark have more variety. My work shows that I learned how to show light despite the darkness in the world through color.
