Final Independent Project

The project that we did was our final independent project. The goal was to make something that exemplified what we did in art this year. The subject of my creation is a mountain with a sunset behind it. The setting of my creation is somewhere in Maine. I chose to make this specifically because I wanted to ahem something inspirational while also showing my artist capability. The steps I went through in creating this project were getting a canvas, drawing an outline, painting the mountain using a textured sponge, mixing the paint to make the colors for the sunset (like orange and red orange and maroon, and purple, and light yellow) then painting the actual sunset, then putting zentangles on the land. The materials used when I made this project were Graphite, sharpie, paint and a canvas. I chose to compose my art this way because I thought that it looked cool with the paint fading into different colors and I wanted the quote to be illuminated.

Some techniques I use while making my art were mixing paint, sponge-ing, and the ombre affect. You can see all over my piece. At first my project was going to be animals like the pure contour and negative space piece, but I wanted to do a project that I had more trouble with, like the mixing paint project.

The meaning behind my artwork is to tell somebody that, if there is an obstacle or mountain you ahem to conquer, to climb it and work hard to overcome it. This project relates to me because I love sunsets. If I were to do this project again I would add another layer of paint on the blue patch, but other than that I really like the way my piece turned out.
