Yamaha YCL-32
Many thanks to Johnny Ward for giving me the opportunity to review this clarinet.
Serial #011132A
Barrel: 66.5mm
Bore LH joint top: 15mm
Bore LH joint at bottom: 14.6mm poly-cylindrical
Intonation results taken when playing loud and not lipping. See how to interpret these results on the Model Comparison Page.
For this test, I pulled 1.0mm at the barrel and 0.2mm at the center tenon.
Intonation summary: This is very nice intermediate intonation. It is disappointing that the measurements seem to imply that this is a poly-cylindrical instrument. But it doesn’t play like one. Yet it is better than the older intermediate clarinets (say, a Selmer Signet) which are ofte a lot farther out of tune than this.
Key work quality: This is seriously strong key work.
This clarinet is most appropriate for: Any beginning to intermediate student.
Condition issues noted: None. Very nice condition.
