Penzel-Mueller 1927 Albert

Many thanks to Harold Edwards for giving me the opportunity to review this wonderful clarinet. And I thank him also for giving me all the materials that go with this, including the original warranty card and information from Penzel-Mueller.

Serial # 9934 marked in the regular fashion on the bottom of the LH and RH joints, not in their later style of vertical serial numbers.

Barrel: 67.5 mm

Bore LH joint top: 15.3 mm

Bore LH joint at bottom: 14.8 mm

Intonation results taken when playing loud and not lipping. See how to interpret these results on the Model Comparison Page.

For this test, I pulled 0.8 mm at the barrel and 0.3 mm at the center tenon.

Intonation summary: Incredible. I think this may be the best Albert system horn I have ever worked on.

Key work quality: Nice. Sturdy enough for this era.

This clarinet is most appropriate for: Anyone who wants a terrific Albert system clarinet

Condition issues noted: I had to have the F/C pad cup reconstructed from a different PM clarinet.
