Jeffery
Thanks to John Willey for giving me the opportunity to review this clarinet.
From the design of the keys, I am guessing this might have been made in the late 1950s or early 60s. I am guessing this was made by the La Monte company.
Serial #2702
Barrel: 66.2 mm
Bore LH joint top: 14.64mm
Bore LH joint at bottom: 14.82mm
Intonation results taken when playing loud and not lipping. See how to interpret these results on the Model Comparison Page.
For this test, I pulled 0mm at the barrel and 0mm in the center for this horn.
Intonation summary: This was intended as an intermediate student level clarinet, and it has intermediate intonation. I would need a 64mm barrel to not be too flat at the beginning of the clarion register. I tried it with a 64mm and it was OK, but then the chalumeau register became sharper.
Key work quality: Quite good.
This clarinet is most appropriate for: Beginning or intermediate players.
Condition issues noted: There were a couple of hairline cracks in the bell. One was almost the whole length. They have been filled and stabilized.
