This clarinet is probably from the 1950's. It has the sans serif logo lettering in a smaller size than the plastic Alexandre. Like that clarinet, the keys are not the best quality, but reasonably sturdy. There is a shared post for the A and G# throat tone keys. The wooden model does not have the unusually shaped right hand trill keys of the plastic model. The wide bore gives the instrument an easy response and big sound, but gives it typical intonation problems. I liked the plastic Alexandre better.

Intonation results taken when playing loud and not lipping. See how to interpret these results on the Wooden Clarinets main page. For this test, I pulled out 2+mm at the barrle and almost 2mm in the middle.
I am thinking this is a Malerne product. See more about French Stencils on the Vintage/Odd Brands page.
Intonation summary: This intonation is roughly like the Selmer Signet Special 100. The bore is not quite as wide as some of those. This clarinet would do very well in Alexandre's Rag Time Band or playing jazz or dixieland. The player should bear in mind that the barrel is 3mm shorter than the standard barrel, so one will almost always need to pull out.
This clarinet is most appropriate for: Beginning students, or perhaps intermediate players in some contexts.
The Alexandre does not have the pin-in-hole left pinkie keys. The rings are large and comfortable.
