Normandy Eb

Thanks to Ron Mhoon for giving me the opportunity to review this eefer.

Serial #5967

Barrel: 39.8mm

Bore LH joint top: 13.45mm

This may be the best eefer that I have ever played.

For this test, I pulled 1.67mm at the barrel.

Intonation summary: For an Eb, this is fantastic. Many eefers are flat before you get to the high C two lines above the staff. If I had this instrument, I would try pulling farther out, but inserting tuning rings to reduce the gap in the bore. In this way I think that the flatness in the throat tones could be overcome and the clarion register would not be so sharp. The clarion register will need to be lipped down in any case.

Key work quality: Typical excellent Noblet key quality.

This clarinet is most appropriate for: Anyone needing to play an eefer.

Condition issues noted: none
