A message from Mrs Thompson

It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of another school year at Lea Forest.

This has been a highly successful and rewarding year for Lea Forest. Being recognised by Ofsted as a good school in November, the successes of our amazing football, rugby, Tri- golf, athletics and tennis teams, our best SATs results for many years and the wonderful addition of our purpose built new library have all contributed to an amazing year for your children and everyone at the school.

A big congratulations to our tennis team for coming first in their competition and to the girl’s football team, and the mixed rounders and rugby teams for finishing a close second. At every competition we are congratulated for our children’s behaviour, respect and sportsmanship. We are very proud of them.

Year 6 this year have been fabulous and we will be really sorry to see them leave. They are all ready for the new challenges of secondary school and we wish them well at their new schools.Their production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was stunning and a lovely farewell performance for us to remember them all by.

I must thank you all as parents and carers for your tremendous support and growing involvement with the school. A massive thanks must go to our Parent Consultation Group. Our Family Fun Day, suggested by and planned by the group was an amazing success, great fun and is the start of many more parent school fund raising fun activities in the future, which we will build on next year.

At this time of year we always have to say goodbye to staff moving on: Miss Rose is leaving us to have her baby, Mrs McElroy-Stringer is moving to a new school, Mr Mills leaves us to begin training as a teacher and Mrs Goldie and Mrs Scranage are retiring.

It is also with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to Mrs Cook who is leaving due to ill health. She had worked as a Teaching Assistant in the school for 15 years.

We wish them all every success and happiness in their new ventures.

I sincerely hope you all have an amazing, relaxing and safe Summer holiday and look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 6 September to start all over again and continue our journey to outstanding.

The new library is almost ready to open! We have been busy this week moving in over 6000 books and adding a few finishing touches to our remarkable reading space.

We will be opening the library after school for parents to visit as well. Look out for updates on the website.
