Charity Fundraising - Thank you for your support

During the past few weeks pupils and staff at Lea Forest Primary Academy have been involved in raising money for a range of national, local and international appeals and causes.

For the Philippines victims the pupils spent an afternoon purchasing items such as books and toys and have raised an impressive £120.47 for the Oxfam appeal. Our Anti-Bullying Week appeal raised money by purchasing blue anti-bullying bands and have raised a wonderful £155.00. Our amazing Yr4's have planned, organised and run a summer fete in there classrooms today and raised an amazing £216.81p for charity! The children made cakes, created games and ran bring and buy stalls, throughout the day. After School Clubs

posted 23 May 2014, 19:03 by J Croxon

It has been a great week for sport at Lea Forest. As well as all our PE lessons and after school clubs we've been busy competing at rugby and football.

Our year 6 rugby team played 6 matches in the Sainsbury's School Games competition. The scores were 1-0 against Severnerow, 0-3 against Timberley, 2-0 against Marlborough, 1-1 against Our Lady's, 0-5 against Holy Souls and 0-3 against Hillstone. Well done to the 9 boys and 3 girls who worked hard all day in the sunshine, and thanks to Mr Smith and Mrs Hartles for looking after them!

In our football match against Brownmead we had 30 minutes of action-packed gameplay, with many opportunities created by both teams. Lea Forest scored first just before half time, with Brownmead equalising very soon afterwards. We carried on fighting hard through the second half in the hot sunshine and defended well to keep to 1-1, giving us a useful point in the league. A well-earned day off!

Look out for more competitions after half-term, working towards our grand sports day on Friday 11 July 2014.

SAT's Week - How to help your child.

posted 6 May 2014, 09:15 by J Croxon [ updated 6 May 2014, 09:15 ]

As you are aware, the SATs tests will be taking place the week beginning 12 May 2014. It is essential that your child attends the academy all of that week.

Although we are endeavouring not to stress the pupils, we do however want the pupils to be prepared and do their very best in their tests to ensure that they are placed in the correct sets in secondary school.

How to help your child:

· Make sure they get enough sleep.

· Make sure they eat breakfast.

· Don’t try and frighten them into revising. Make it fun for them.

Encourage them to ask the teacher if they are unsure about anything.
