Our leavers show will be performed twice. There will be a morning performance on Wednesday 13 July at 9.30am and an evening show on Thursday 14 July at 6.30pm. Please order tickets on the slip below. You are welcome to bring young children to the morning show but we would appreciate that children over the age of 5 only, attend the evening show as it will be recorded. The children have worked really hard and it certainly promises to be an entertaining show!

We will be keeping the children in school on the day of the evening performance and plan to have take-away food in school. Children will need to be collected from the KS2 Hall at 8.00pm on Thursday 14 July. There will also be a barbecue for the Year 6 children on Friday 15 July. We are asking for a contribution of £4 towards the cost of the food on these two days. Please send money in a sealed envelope to your child’s class teacher.

On the final day of term, there will be a Leavers graduation Assembly in school which you are invited to attend. This takes place in the Key Stage 2 Hall and begins at 9.30am. I very much hope you are able to attend. Thank you for your continued support

Eid-al-Fitr

posted 29 Jun 2016, 13:37 by J Croxon

Eid-al-Fitr marking the end of Ramadan, is the most important annual Islamic holiday. Eid-al-Fitr is expected to fall on either Tuesday 5 July, Wednesday 6 July or Thursday 7 July depending on the moon sighting this year.

Lea Forest Primary Academy understand, as it is with holidays in other faiths, this is a time of prayer, charity, celebration, family get-togethers and gift giving to celebrate this joyous occasion. As a result we are able to authorise one day next week for religious observance.

The Academy will remain open to all those not celebrating Eid.

Congratulations to our Yr5 and Yr6 children who represented our academy at the Rounders Tournament at Ninestiles Academy on Friday. Not only were they great ambassadors for our academy, their teamwork and sporting skills saw them win the tournament. With three closely matched games against Yarnfield Primary Academy and Hillstone Academy. After some great team work and superb fielding we left the competition in first place and have earned a place at the regional finals on the 8th of July.

A Message from Mrs Thompson

Dear Parents/Carers,

This has been an eventful week with the torrential rain and resulting flooding in the school. Many thanks to you all for your support and understanding when we were forced to close the Academy on Wednesday. After a lot of hard work from staff on Wednesday we are now open again - although work will continue for a number of weeks to dry out the classrooms and replace carpets etc. In the meantime Year 2 have moved back into three classes freeing up teaching space for year 3. We are proud of how sensibly the children have behaved throughout.

It is hard to believe that another academic year is coming to a close. This half term is always one of the busiest in the calendar and this year will be no different. As parents and carers you have the annual sports day to look forward to and to those parents with children moving onto secondary school in September a graduation ceremony and the opportunity to see the year group perform on stage. For the children there are numerous sports competitions that we will be entering teams for and our choir will be performing at the Symphony Hall. A fantastic achievement for our choir in its first year of existence. September will come around more quickly than we can imagine. I am hoping to have all staffing for the new year agreed in the next few weeks and will be sharing with the children the name of their teacher for next year as soon as possible. We have arranged a transition day on Thursday 30 June when the children will spend time getting to know their new teacher. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you feel your child will need some additional support with the transition to their new class.

We have many visitors in our school on a regular basis. The comments and praise we receive about the manners, politeness and respect shown by our children is incredible. As parents you should be very proud of our children. We are very proud of them especially when they are out representing our school at events.

Yr6 Family Cooking Course

posted 13 Jun 2016, 14:58 by J Croxon

Lea Forest has been chosen to run a family cooking course in conjunction with the NHS. The course will give our children the opportunity to cook with a parent or guardian one afternoon a week for a four week period.

The course will cover healthy eating, basic food hygiene, chopping techniques, kitchen safety and of course lots of delicious cooking. We are delighted to invite children from Yr6 to take part in this Family Cooking Course which we hope to start on Wednesday 22nd of June from 1:30pm - 3:10pm and then every Thursday afternoon until the 14th of July.

If you are interested in attending you must be available to attend all four sessions. Please complete and return the letter to Miss Lewis by Friday 17th of June.
