Statement about School Dinners

We would like to notify all parents that, due to a lack of equipment, and facilities in the kitchen and to avoid cross-contamination, Lea Forest Academy is unable to provide halal meat. As an alternative, the children have fish and vegetarian options. The school menu is always displayed on the Notice Board in the Reception foyer, for your reference.

As you are aware, over the last few months, there has been much adverse publicity surrounding the presence of horse DNA in processed meat products. To assure parents and carers, we have full traceability, as far as is reasonably practicable, for the food items that we serve to our children at Lea Forest Primary Academy. The school menu does not include beef. Cityserve has removed beef from menus as a precautionary measure with effect from 25 February 2013. Cityserve re-iterate this is a precautionary measure and there is no evidence to suggest that there is any contamination in any of their products.
