Autism Awareness Week

posted 8 Mar 2016, 12:11 by J Croxon

We will be celebrating Autism Awareness Week at Lea Forest next week starting Monday 14 March.

Autism affects how a person thinks, feels and learns, and we feel it is important that pupils know and understand as much as possible about autism.

During Autism Awareness Week is The National Autistic Society’s very own Onesie Wednesday on Wednesday 16 March. Children are invited to get involved in raising autism awareness and celebrating standing out and being different by coming into school in a onesie or their favourite PJs and donating £1.00.

Children are also invited to take part in the Create a Poster Competition to raise awareness of autism. The winner of the poster competition will receive a prize and the winning poster will be displayed around school. £1.00 to enter.

We are hoping to raise money for the National Autistic Society and also enhance the children’s knowledge of autism.
