Christmas Jumper Day - Friday 18th December
posted 30 Nov 2015, 12:54 by J Croxon
On Friday 18 December we’re inviting all pupils and staff to take part in Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day. Thousands of people up and down the country will be wearing their Christmas jumpers and we would like to join in the fun.
Everyone will be asked to wear their silliest, sparkliest or cosiest Christmas woollies and make a donation of £1, to help Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish UK and Save the Children give hope to families in difficulty at Christmas.
If your child does not have a festive sweater already, just dig out a plain jumper and decorate it with tinsel, baubles or homemade snowflakes.
To find out more visit the website at itv.com/textsanta. Tune into ITV on the evening of the 18 December for the Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day show, to see how your child’s support will give hope to even more families in difficulty, here in the UK and abroad.
We’d really appreciate your help to make Christmas Jumper Day a huge success.
With your support we’re looking forward to a woolly fun day!
Forest School - Tree Planting
posted 28 Nov 2015, 07:24 by J Croxon [ updated 28 Nov 2015, 07:25 ]
At Lea Forest one of our key values is Respect, both for each other and our environment. A dedicated team of children and their families from Nursery all the way up to Year 6 gave their time to help improve our environment by planting trees in our Forest School area and on our Academy field. We hope that as they grow we will see more wildlife in our community and allow us to better use our outdoor spaces. Our second planting day is now fully booked, so we may need to arrange another session soon!

Winter Weather Reminders
posted 18 Nov 2015, 17:48 by J Croxon
Outdoor clothing
Please can we remind you to send your child into school with adequate outdoor clothing. Providing the weather is not wet (ie raining or snowing) or icy, children will be given the opportunity to play outside at break and lunchtimes, therefore children will need suitable clothing for the conditions:
- Winter coat or Fleece
- Hat
- Scarf
- Gloves
Please make sure any items of clothing are marked with your child's name.
Closure due to bad weather
We will always do our best to keep the academy open over the winter months.
In the unlikely event that we have to close the building we will inform parents via the Academy Website, Twitter Feed and Facebook page and via local radio stations. Should the weather worsen overnight we advise parents to listen to local radio or check our website and twitter feeds before heading out to school in the morning.
Memorial for Mr Bowden
posted 6 Nov 2015, 16:01 by J Croxon [ updated 6 Nov 2015, 16:01 ]
Having spoken to Mr Bowden’s family we would like to create a memorial to him in school. Many parents spoke to us during the week that he passed away asking if they were able to donate money in his memory.
We will need to raise money in order to create the memorial and know some parents of current and past pupils will want to contribute to the fund. We will be meeting with the family in a few weeks to discuss what they would like the memorial to be and at present we do not know how much money we will need to raise.
If you would like to make a donation, please send money into school in an envelope marked ‘Mr Bowden – Memorial fund).
Parents Evening

It was lovely to see so many parents at Parents Evening this week and to hear so many positive comments about the school. If you were unable to attend this week, please speak to your child’s class teacher at the end of the school day who will be pleased to arrange an appointment time to see you.
Thank you very much to all the parents who took the time to complete the Parent Survey on line. Your comments are very valuable to us. Your comments help support us to continue to move the school forward and improve our provision for the children. Please remember you are always welcome to arrange an appointment to speak with staff if you have any concerns.
