5- If your name is on the board for overdue books or fines, fill out your Agenda and I will send you to the Library.
1- You can read to get caught up so you can finish your IRB project.
2- Projects are due in class on 3/14 for a Gallery Walk.
3- Project details are posted in Google Classroom.
1- If you have not gotten an Argumentative Essay topic sheet- you need to do this today so you can get your claims checked off.
2- Once you get a copy, brain storm how you will address the prompt. You can sketch out what information you need to gather, do research to get three quotes, and figure out your counter claim. Use the sheet to list or note all the information you need in order to support your argument.
3- Then get a Argument One Pager on the black cabinet and complete the CLAIM oval and get it checked off by me. This is worth 20 points-- don't miss the deadline.

• IN THE THREE BOXES on the TOP right: Three significant quotations that help to prove your thesis. Make sure you include MLA citations (author) or if you do not have an author the ("Web Page Title"). You might want bookmark your pages so you can do your works cited later.
•IN THE TWO DIALOGUE BOXES in the BOTTOM right: A point someone might make to show that your thesis is NOT true (a counter-argument). And your response to that counter-argument in the BOTTOM dialogue box in the bottom right
• IN THE BOTTOM LEFT: An image that somehow represents your argument or big ideas. If it is literal, and not symbolic, it needs to make sense.
- You can all add other symbols, drawings, and words that represent your argument as you wish.

Argument Sketch Notes-- finish in class today.
1- If you need your Sketch Notes sheets, come and see me at the podium table in the front of the class. If I am outside in the hall WAIT until I come back into class to get your sheet.
2- Make sure your IMAGE has something to do with your claim. It can't be a setting of the book, it has to SUPPORT and ILLUSTRATE the point of your claim.
3- Finish Argument Sketch Notes (instructions posted in Google Classroom) and then move onto the class activity.

2- Read through the 10 argument prompts there and PICK ONE. This will be your Argumentative Essay topic.

3- You may sit in groups of 3 of your choice.

1-Pick an slip from the bucket in the center of your table. Read the topic to your group and discuss for a couple of minutes.
2- When you're done talking your group will put together a sketch note sheet of an argument. Use your journal to take notes or jot down quotes and ideas for your sketch note sheet.

The sketch notes sheet is a way to visually share key ideas and information from what you have learned about The Outsiders. When you create your note sheet, you are trying to use both visual symbols and important words to clearly and concisely share your most important takeaways with someone else.
2- Every person needs to have a job to complete your sheet.
#1 is the writer or scribe and should come up with the thesis statement and ideas/images to help prove your thesis.
#2 needs to find 2 quotes to prove your thesis.
#3 needs to find a 3rd quote to prove your thesis, and a counter-argument
3- After you come up with your parts you should be able to make your note sheet.
Here’s what it MUST INCLUDE:

Write a letter to one of the characters in The Outsiders from another character in the novel. Your letter should be at least 2 paragraphs. What you write is up to you but be sure to include some details about the story. Write it like the reader does not know what has happened in the novel.

The Task: “Dissect” a character by creating a Post Mortem (a body!) of one of the main characters in The Outsiders. You will label certain body parts with your own ideas + textual evidence in order to demonstrate a deep understanding of your character.
Character Options: Ponyboy, Darry, Dally, Cherry, Johnny, (Sodapop or Two-Bit only with special permission).
Final Post Mortem needs to be done will be on the body form on paper.
