WHEN YOU WALK INTO THIS CLASSROOM-
READ AND DO THIS NOW:
1- You need your Chromebooks, your calendar, your Outsider's IRB Reading Guide, and a pen or pencil- earbuds if you have them.
2- GO GET THESE THINGS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THEM- DO NOT WAIT UNTIL CLASS STARTS TO ASK TO GET THESE ITEMS.
If you are not prepared for class- you will sit in silent lunch.
3- Sit in your Assigned Seats- Charts are on the wall above the Black Cabinet. In the Library 2 to a table, not across from each other.
BELL RINGER:
1- Have your Calendar out on your tables.
2- To be stamped today- you must have a draft of your essay completed.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We are proofreading drafts today- if you are not finished with your draft- work on that- you must complete it before you leave- this INCLUDES a WORKS CITED- in order to be stamped.
2- If you are done with your essay-- work with a partner- trade computers or share drafts and read each other's essays- look for the following:
A- That the essay is in MLA form- look at the sample essay on the Argumentative Essay page.
B- That starts of sentences are capitalized, there are no random capitalized letters in the essay, that all names of people, places, and titles are capitalized.
C- That there is a Works Cited and it is in proper form-- and that it is titled Works Cited. Again, look at the sample essay or the instructions on the Argumentative Essay page.
D- That the essay does not have the personal pronouns I, me, my, or you, used in the essay.
E- That the essay has internal parenthetical citations (author last name) or (article title) ONLY. All quoted material must be cited, and if outside information is used, even if paraphrased, that there is a citation at the end of the paragraph.
3- If you do not get a partner to do this-- make sure YOU do this before you turn it in on MONDAY.
4- Once proofreading is done, you can edit or read The Outsiders. You need to FINISH the book by 3/21.
On your tables are Outsiders books, please leave them there when you leave. You can also read online using the PDF. You can also listen to the book online if you have earbuds.

2- GO GET THESE THINGS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THEM- DO NOT WAIT UNTIL CLASS STARTS TO ASK TO GET THESE ITEMS.

3- If you are on the working lunch list- sit at those designated tables.
4- If you are not on the working lunch list-- you may sit at the other tables with who you like. If there is too much talking we will start to have assigned seating. Do not mess it up for the rest of your class.

In your Journal- write a short paragraph about where you feel like an outcast or an outsider. Give a few reasons why you feel that way. If you don't feel like an outsider-- explain where you feel included and why you feel that way.
