DO THIS NOW:
1- You ONLY need your Journal, IRBs, and a pen/pencil. You can have your other items with you, but we're reading today.
2- You can sit in the formation where you like. Make sure you are sitting with people who you will help you to read and pay attention to your book--and not distract you.
3- Get an index card from the basket on your table and write your first and last name on the top of the lined side, and your period.
4- Turn in "I Am" Poems into the WHITE TURN-IN BOX.
5- IF you have Flash Bolts, I'll send you out to put them up during class.
BELL RINGER:
1- On your index card just set up the card with the following information.
2- You will add the Ending Page # at the end of class, but leave space for it.
3- Then list the letters K, W, and L down the left edge of the card. Leave at least 2 rows in between each letter.

CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We'll be reading today. If you want to sit in our new chairs or use the pillows, come and pick a card for an option to sit in our alternate seating areas.
2- I'll be calling people up to check reading goals today. Bring your Journal with you so we can track your reading.
3- I'll stop you 10 minutes before the end of class, you will need to complete your KWL card on what you have read so far in your book. The KWL means:
K: What I KNOW- about the book, characters, and plot so far.
W: What I WONDER- about the characters, the plot, the ending of the book.
L: What I LEARNED- about myself, what I think/feel/believe.
4- You need to turn in your card before you leave.

THINGS YOU NEED FOR MONDAY:
1- Bring your IRB and a pen or pencil.
2- Be reading your IRB to make your reading goal for next Friday! Once you finish your 1st book you can start on your 1st IRB project.
3- For class on Monday-- ask your Mom and Dad if they know where your Great-Grandparents (on either or both sides) are from-- city, state, and/or country.
For example: My Great-Grandparents on my father's side came from Kohala on the Big Island, Palolo Valley on O'ahu, and Seoul, Korea. My Great-Grandparents on my mother's side came from Mexico City, Mexico; Macau, China; Madeira, Portugal; and Kapa'a, Kaua'i.

1- You ONLY need your Chromebooks. Take everything back to your locker or place it on the black side counter. It cannot be anywhere on the floors or in the aisles. We're moving around today so we need space to move.

2- Everything is posted below here and in our google classroom. Each STATION table is labeled. Only work on the correct station when you get to it. They are listed below 1 through 5. You will need to scroll up and down-- depending on what station you are at. Make sure you follow the correct instructions.
3- IF there is a station with a paper activity, you will need to complete it and place it in the red basket on your table at the end of your 8 minutes.
4-You only have FIVE MINUTES per station. When you hear the timer go off you have to move to the next station. You will go in order. If you start at station 2, you move to station 3... etc.
5- If you do not finish a station, you can come in during ETA to complete it.
6- If you have extra time in a station, you may do a PAST station to complete your work.

Station 1: Read Class Procedures: Log into Google Classroom and read the Class Procedures. Then write "I have read and understand." in a clas comment below the assignment.
Station 2: Netiquette: Log into Google Classroom and open the PREZI and ONLY read through the "Netiquette" section. If you have time, watch the videos- you do not need to hear them, so you can turn off your sound. Then write "I have read and understand." in a class comment below the assignment.
Station 3: Avoiding Plagiarism: Log into Google Classroom and open the PREZI and ONLY read through the "Avoiding Plagiarism" section. If you have time, watch the videos- you do not need to hear them, so you can turn off your sound. Then write "I have read and understand." in a class comment below the assignment.
Station 4: Safety: Log into Google Classroom and open the PREZI and ONLY read through the "Safety" section. If you have time, watch the videos- you do not need to hear them, so you can turn off your sound. Then write "I have read and understand." in a class comment below the assignment.
Station 5: Digital Footprint: Log into Google Classroom and open the PREZI and ONLY read through the "Digital Footprint" section. If you have time, watch the videos- you do not need to hear them, so you can turn off your sound. Then write "I have read and understand." in a class comment below the assignment.
Station 6: I AM Poem: Read the instructions and read my example, then create your own I AM poem about the upcoming school year. This is a paper assignment- You can use construction paper and markers to complete this. Place your poems in the red basket on your table.
When you are done with ALL of the stations- you may read your IRB or finish any station you may have missed. You will receive points for EACH station so make sure you finish them all.

TODAY IS Wednesday, August 15
DO THIS NOW:
1- You need your IRB and your class journal.
2- Sit at your same table from yesterday.
3- TURN INTO THE WHITE TURN-IN BOX (if you have not already done so).
BELL RINGER:
1- In your Journal, start a new page- as a title write today's date.
2- Then under the date write down the page number you are starting to read at today.
3- Then write one or two sentences about what has happened in the book BEFORE this page.

Harry is staying at the Burrow with Ron and happy to be with the Weasley's again and in the wizarding world. He is noticing that Ron's sister, Ginny, is embarrassed to see him or be near him. They are all making plans to go back to Hogwarts.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- Once you are done with the Bell Ringer, Mrs. Thomason will make any announcements.
2- You can read until 10 minutes before the end of class.
3- At 10 minutes to the bell, Mrs. Thomason will stop you and you can update your Journal.
4- On the same page, write the page you stopped reading.
5- Write one or two sentences about what is happening now in the book.
6- Then write one or two sentences about what you think so far about what you have read.
7- If you did not Log in your book on the IRB Class Log yesterday-- take care of that now.
8- Before you leave, put your Journals in your class basket on the black counter.
9- If there is time left in class you can finish All About Me Sheets, Name Cards, or READ until the bell.

TODAY IS Tuesday, August 14
DO THIS NOW:
1- You need your IRB, your Chromebook- please get both items and bring it to class.
2- Sit at your same table from yesterday.
3- Get a composition book from back cabinet. You can pick from any stack- they are organized by design.
4- TURN INTO THE WHITE TURN IN BOX:
1- Pink Sheets
2- All About Me Sheets
3- Name Cards if you have them
BELL RINGER:
1- Use a black sharpie from the center basket and write this on the cover of your Journal.
2- Write your first and last name and your period below.
3- These will be your class Journals-- you will write and do classwork in this book.
4- Turn to the 2nd page of your journal and write the title of your IRB at the top and the author.
5- For the next few minutes write a Book Preview under the title of your book/author.
6- Write a paragraph (5+ sentences) about what your book is about based on what you read last week, or the inside or back of your book cover. Write your paragraph as if you were describing the book to your best friend who you think will like to read the book too. You are not telling the whole story-- you just giving us a snapshot of what the book is about.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- When you get done writing your book preview- read the details on the Independent Reading page. The link is at the top of this webpage on the top navigation line. It is in WHITE in the image below. THIS IS NOT THE LINK! Read the directions above to find the link. This is a PICTURE that tells you where to find the link.
2- Once everyone is done reading the details- we'll discuss the Independent Reading projects and due dates.
3- Log in your book on the IRB Class Log.
4- Put your Journals in your class basket on the black counter.
5- If there is time left in class you can finish All About Me Sheets, Name Cards, or READ until the bell.

TODAY IS Monday, August 13
3DO THIS NOW:
1- You need your Chromebook- please get it and bring it to class.
2- Sit at a numbered table according to the card I give you.
3- Get a note card from the center basket and write your name- first and last-- and your period at the top of the lined side of the card.
4- If you have Pink Sheets from me or Mr. Hudson, please put them into the White Turn In Box on the black cabinet against the back wall of our classroom.
BELL RINGER:
1- Please take a few minutes to REVIEW the attendance slideshow and the dress code cheat sheet.
2- On the note card, please write 2 questions (or more) you have about either the attendance policy or the dress code.
3- If you do not have any questions that you want to write down, then write 2 things you LIKE about the new attendance policy or dress code. You will get credit for your card, so do either questions or 2 things you like.
4- When you are done, put your card into the White Turn In Box on the black cabinet.
5- You can work on an "All About Me" sheet in your center basket.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We'll watch the attendance video for THIS YEAR (it's an update)!
2- I'll answer any questions about attendance or dress code.
3- Then we'll watch Mrs. B's intro slideshow.
4- And finish our name cards.
5- Make sure you always TURN WORK INTO THE WHITE TURN IN BOX-- RED boxes are for graded work- I never look in them. If you turn in work to the Red Boxes, you will not get a grade for what you have done.
