1- You need your IRB and your Journals.
2- Sit where you like today.
BELL RINGER:
1- Get a post-it note from your basket.
2- Write your name on the top of the post-it.
3- Then write the title of the book you are reading TODAY. If you need a new book, just hang on so you can find a new book to read.
4- Write next week's date: 8/31/18
5- You can set your new goal yourself today-- just make sure it is an amount of reading you can attain by next Friday-- and helps you get through the book faster
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We'll be reading today.
2- If we are in the library-- you can borrow and renew books.
3- Set your new reading goal on your post-it and place it on your page in your book.
4- When I call you up-- bring your journal with you for your reading check.
5- You should not be working on your Tears of Autumn questions-- finish this in ETA and submit it by the end of the day for full credit.

2- Write one or two sentences about what you learned about Japanese Americans or Japanese culture from yesterday. If you don't remember, look at the textbook on pages 263-265 for any words or phrases you learned about Japanese culture.

2- After our discussion, we'll finish reading the story "Tears for Autumn" together.
3- After reading, we'll discuss the story.
4- In your journals- write what you think the THEME is of "Tears for Autumn."

1- In your journal- write about the following prompt:
Describe a time when you had to change your environment- the first day at a new school; going to camp when you didn't know anyone; meeting cousins or family for the first time; joining a new team when you didn't have a friend or sibling with you; maybe you had to move to a new house or a new city or state. After you describe what happened to you, explain how you felt or what you had to do to feel less uncomfortable and to begin to fit in.
2- Write a paragraph- at least 5 sentences. If you get done writing and others are still writing, you can look at the story "Tears of Autumn" on page 264 in your textbook.
3- When you're done writing, we'll share on our table.
4- After our discussion, we'll read the story together.

1- Log into Newsela- remember to Login using GOOGLE- do not type in your email. If you do that you will not see your Binder or your Assignments.
2- Once you have logged in-- find today's Assignment: A green school in Navajo country Do not start this assignment until I give announcements.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- Make sure you are on the correct level to read this article. You should read it at the 1040 Lexile.
2- Go to ACTIVITIES and READ the WRITE question. Just read it-- do not answer it until you read the article.
3- READ the article.
4- Answer the questions in the QUIZ.
5- Then write a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) with 2 examples from the article to complete the WRITE activity.
6- When you are done-- log into Google Classroom and read Wednesday's homework assignment.
7- When you are done, you can finish Station Work in Google Classroom, I Am Poems, post your Flash Bolts, and/or Read your IRBs for Friday's 2nd Reading Goal Check.
