1- Read today's daily schedule.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- Mrs. Mims will train you on Libary procedures and how to navigate the library online.
2- We'll borrow books and log our books into our INDEPENDENT READING BOOK Google Form.
Please make sure you log the book you borrowed today-- or if you already have a book from home or my class library, you can log that here.
3- You MUST have your book in school at all times. You will have an IRB (Independent Reading Book) in ALL your classes to read during "down" time and/or ETA. If you do not bring your book, you will need to either stop at the Library and borrow another book ORborrow one from my class library.
4- If you borrow from my class library- you need to sign out books with me- I have a clipboard where you list the book you take from my shelf. DO NOT take one out of my room without signing it out.
Have a great weekend! Don't forget to bring your books to school on Monday!
TODAY IS Thursday, August 17
1- You need your Chromebooks. Place all your other items (binders etc) in the basket under your desk. Your things cannot be anywhere in the aisles. We're moving around today so we need space to move.
2- You can sit in the formation where you like. Make sure you are sitting with people who you will help you pay attention--and not distract you. You are going to work together in groups as you move around the room.
3- DO NOT touch anything on your tables until we start the stations.
4- We meet in the LIBRARY tomorrow. Go straight there, do not stop at our classroom or you will be Tardy.

1- Get a Journal from the black counter
2- Use a sharpie (from the bucket next to the Journals) to write:
First Line: YOUR NAME- First and Last (neatly so we can all see it and read it).
Second Line: YOUR PERIOD (neatly so we can all see it and read it).
CLASS ACTIVITY:
We have 5 stations again today. You have 5 minutes per station. If you do not finish at one or more stations, you will have time to finish after we finish rotating.
ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS are on this webpage. Nothing is posted in Google Classroom.
Station 1: JOURNAL SET UP: Follow the directions to set up your Journals.
Page 1- Leave it blank- turn the page.
Page 2- Tape or glue the Weekly Reading Journal prompts.
Page 3- Tape or glue the Independent Reading SmartNotes.
Page 4 and 5- LEAVE BLANK.
Station 2: Page 4 and 5: BOOK LIST
If you have not been to Station 1 you need to start on page FOUR of your journal. (Count to the 4th page and start there).
1- Take a ruler and a pencil from the red box
2- Title the page: BOOK LIST
3- Under your title, draw a line across and two vertical lines down the page to separate the page into a double T-chart. Label each column like the example below:

Station 3: 1st Journal Entry: If you have not been to Station 1 you need to start on page SIX of your journal. (Count to the 6th page and start there).
1- On Page 6- Write today's Date: Aug. 17, 2017
2- Write a paragraph about a book you read this summer or a book you read last year.
3- Add the title, what you liked about the story, the characters, and/or the experience of reading the book.
Station 4: Kirkus Review: Please go to the Kirkus Review review website and read about a book from their Young Adult page.

2- Scroll through the book options, pick a book you think looks interesting.
3- Read the FULL book review.
4- After you have read the review- go to page SEVEN. If you have not been to Station 1 you need to start on page SEVEN of your journal. (Count to the 7th page and start there).
5- Write the title of the book and the author and one or two sentences about what you think about the book.
After the last station--
1- You can stay where you ended, and you can work on any part of your journal that you did not finish.
2- You can also finish anything you need to complete from yesterday's stations.
3- You are also welcome to borrow a book from my library, but tomorrow is your DEADLINE to borrow a book for Independent Reading and for your Journal Writing.
4- If you are reading a book from home, or from my library, you must bring the book with you to the Library tomorrow.

READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
1- Everything is posted below on our class website. Each STATION is labeled. Only work on the correct station when you get to it. They are listed below 1 through 5. You will need to scroll up and down-- depending on where you are in the room-- to follow the correct instructions. Stations 2, 3 and 4 are posted in Google Classroom so you can complete them.
2- IF there is a station with a paper activity, you will need to complete it and place it in the red basket at the end of your 8 minutes.
3-You only have EIGHT MINUTES per station. When you hear the timer go off you have to move to the next station. You will go in order. If you start at station 2, you move to station 3... etc.
4- If you do not finish a station, you can come in during ETA to complete it.
5- If you have extra time in a station, you may do a PAST station to complete your work.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
Station 1: All About Me! This is a paper assignment- Fill out the questionnaire and use the colored pencils to complete. Place them in the red basket on your table.
Station 2: Class Procedures: Log into Google Classroom and read the Class Procedures. Then write "I have read and understand." in a comment below the assignment.
Station 3: Syllabus: Log into Google Classroom and read the Syllabus. Then write "I have read and understand" in a comment below the assignment. Make sure you click on the links and check out the different units.
Station 4: Go Guardian & Avoiding Plagiarism:

2- Log into Google Classroom and open the PREZI and ONLY read through the "Avoiding Plagiarism" section. Then write "I have read and understand." in a comment below the assignment.
Station 5: I AM Poem: Read the instructions and read my example, then create your own I AM poem about the upcoming school year. This is a paper assignment- You can use construction paper and markers to complete this. Place your poems in the red basket on your table.
IF you do not finish any station, you can complete it during ETA. Come and see me if you need help.

1- Find YOUR "Figure Me Out" page on the black counter, and pick up an index card. Take both back to where you are sitting.
2- You can sit in the formation where you like- you do not need to sit in the same seat as last week. Make sure you are sitting by someone who you will help you pay attention--and not distract you.
BELL RINGER:1- Work on finishing your "Figure me out" sheet. Remember you need to have EQUATIONS for someone to "figure you out."
2- Erase the "answers" if you added them. :)
