BELL RINGER:
1- Take a sheet of paper from the center of your table and fold it in half, and then half again- then fold down the side corner of the final square where the paper is folded. It should form a rhombus or diamond in the center like the image below.
2- Unfold it and in the right corner- and write your name in the top left hand corner.
3- Then write one or two sentences about what you think the theme is of “The Dance.” Use your journal entry from yesterday to complete this part. Make sure you don't write into the center diamond.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We’ll discuss how to do the Four Corners writing activity.
2- We’ll go around the table responding to everyone's theme sentences in the top right hand corner.
3- After each writing we’ll discuss and take notes in the other 3 corners.
4- The final step is to figure out the theme in the center.
5- When your table is done discussing then we’ll talk about the theme and we’ll write on the back of our paper-- What are your options in life? Does being a male or female, being whatever race you are, being from Hoover/Birmingham, living where you live-- matter to what will happen to you in life?
6- This is a TIMED free write-- write freely and don’t worry about grammar or organization-- just answer the questions and explain using your own life how these things matter in your future.
7- You must write for at least 10 minutes. Once the timer goes off you needed to have answered the question completely. I am looking for content in this short essay.
8- When you are done, turn it into the turn in box. If we have time you can read or work on IRB projects. Everything is posted in Google Classroom.
