CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- Decide what you are doing today-- either READING or working on your ONE-PAGER.
2- If you are working on your One-Pager you need to be quiet and work-- others may be reading. It is not a social hour. It is time to work.
3- All details on the One-Pager are posted in Google Classroom.
4- You have a Quiz on Chapters 5-8 on Wednesday 2/20. You will also have time to work on the One-Pager after the Quiz. It will be due on Thursday 2/21.

1- Pick up a copy of the poems on the black counter and 3 colored pencils- DO NOT PICK YELLOW.
2- Write your full name and period at the top.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- At your table, have one person read "Nothing Gold Can Stay" out loud. Everyone should use one color to CIRCLE all IMAGERY.
2- Then use the same color to CIRCLE all IMAGERY in "The Rose that Grew from Concrete."
3- With a 2nd color-UNDERLINE the poetic elements listed below in BOTH poems. Have a different person at your table read both poems again. If you have already circled these items you can still underline them now.
4- If someone doesn't know what these elements are-- look them up in a separate tab. Make sure you discuss them with each other so that your table understands the elements.
5- With a 3rd color- write the elements next to or above the lines where you found the poetic elements in both poems.
6- When everyone is done write a reflection at the bottom row under the poem. Tell me what you think of both poems and how they are similar.
7- We'll share our reflections and discuss the poems. If your group finishes early you can read or work on IRB projects or other homework.

2- In your Journal, find a new page, DATE it: 2/12/19
3- TITLE: Dressing like an Outsider.
CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- We'll take a look at the slideshow: How to dress like an Outsider.
2- After we look at the slideshow, write about which group you identify with-- are you more a Greaser or a Soc? Write a short paragraph explaining why you think you are a Greaser or a Soc.
3- Then decide what you already have in your closet that you can use to dress like a Soc or a Greaser. List them below your paragraph.
4- We'd like you to dress like a Soc or a Greaser on Friday 2/22. It will be extra credit points for you and it will be fun. Please DO NOT buy anything new. You can use whatever you have in your closet. And it is the EFFORT you make that counts-- not being perfect with your look.
5- Once we're done talking, you can put your journals away and read The Outsiders. We'll be discussing Nothing Gold Can Stay tomorrow-- so please have read through Chapter 6 by tomorrow.

CLASS ACTIVITY:
1- Before we take the quiz-- pick up a character sheet-- one per table and fill it out together. Choose one person to write what everyone says-- you may use your books for this activity.
2- For each character your group needs to list 3 important character traits-- traits are descriptions of their personality, likes, dislikes, what they do for a living, what they love, and who they care about.
3- You also need to explain what role they play in the book and if they are a Greaser or Socs.
4- You will only have 15 minutes to complete this.
5- When you are done, you can take the Quiz. It is posted on Google Classroom.
6- Once you get done taking the quiz, you can read The Outsiders. We'll be discussing more of the book tomorrow.
